ALUFIX® self-adhesive foils are ideal for creating vapour- and air-tight seals on aluminium vapour barriers and aluminium-laminated insulation materials.
In many applications, such as sauna construction (AWX quality) or the insulation of technical installations and air conditioning ducts, ALUFIX® self-adhesive foils have proven their worth as a reliable method for bonding the seams of vapour barriers.
ALUFIX® self-adhesive foils are characterised by their good adhesive strength on many smooth and load-bearing surfaces. They are particularly suitable for masking aluminium vapour barriers. The surfaces to be masked must be dry and free from grease and dust. The tapes must be pressed down firmly to ensure there are no air bubbles.

ALUFIX® self-adhesive foils are used wherever aluminium vapour barriers, aluminium-faced insulation materials or technical insulation systems need to be reliably joined and sealed. In the field of construction products, insulation and applications subject to special indoor climate requirements, the quality of the insulation material itself is not the only decisive factor. It is equally essential that transitions, joints, connections and overlaps are reliably sealed.
This is the prerequisite for ensuring the long-term vapour-tightness and airtightness of the construction.
Korff self-adhesive foils are particularly suitable for bonding aluminium vapour barriers and aluminium-faced insulation materials. They allow clean joints to be produced and help to prevent weak points in the construction. Typical areas of application include sauna construction (AWX quality), insulation of technical installations, as well as air-conditioning and ventilation ducts.
These areas often place particular demands on temperature resistance, tightness and installation safety.
One of the advantages of ALUFIX® self-adhesive foils is their good adhesion to smooth and stable substrates. This makes them versatile in use, provided that the surfaces to be bonded are properly prepared. To ensure a durable and reliable bond, the substrates must be dry, free from grease and as clean as possible. After application, it is important to press the adhesive tape down firmly in order to prevent the formation of air bubbles. This allows the adhesive to bond over the entire surface and reliably perform its function over the long term.
Depending on the requirements of the application, different versions and quality grades are available. ALUFIX® self-adhesive foils made of pure aluminium are suitable for standard applications requiring vapour-tight bonding on an aluminium basis. Adhesive tapes made of aluminium-metallised plastic can be an appropriate solution when good tear resistance is required in addition to a visual appearance similar to aluminium surfaces. For more demanding conditions, Korff also offers the AWX All-Weather-Quality variants.
These have been developed for applications requiring particularly durable bonding, for example on metal substrates or surfaces exposed to condensation.
Proper bonding also plays an important role in pipe insulation, air-conditioning ducts and technical insulation systems. If joints and transitions are not carefully sealed, moisture, draughts or thermal bridges can impair the effectiveness of the insulation. A suitable self-adhesive foil helps to protect the surface and maintain the insulating performance of the overall system.
For spiral bonding or use on rounded components, it is particularly advantageous to use a foil that is easy to apply and provides sufficient strength.
The choice of the appropriate ALUFIX® self-adhesive foil depends on the specific application. Key criteria include the nature of the substrate, the required level of tightness, mechanical loads, thermal stress and the installation conditions on site. The width and thickness of the material should also be matched to the application. For narrow joints and connections, narrower rolls are generally sufficient, while larger widths can be advantageous for bonding larger surfaces or wider overlaps.
